I can't stop Crying! Rocky has gone to the Bridge!

Question:
 First thing this morning, hubby got up to let the dogs out while he got ready for work. The dogs get chained up now, as we lost most of our fence to the last snow storm. While he was chaining up Duke, Rocky slipped past him, and took off. Rocky has never done this before! he is such an easy going Laid back guy, one of those, you have to force to get up off of their bed! Hubby started calling him, and he wouldnt listen. So hubby went inside to grab the leash, and get some shoes on, as he was doing this, he heard a sound, no one wants to hear! The squeeling of tires, and Rocky Screaming! It was so Loud, It woke me up!
I shot up out of bed, and ran out side in my Pajammas trying to figure out what that horrendus sound was. Thats when I saw My boy Rocky laying in the road! He was crying, trying to get up. The person who hit him, was distraught, and helped us get rocky into our truck, to rush him to the vets. Hubby had to take him on his own, as I had the kids to take care of.
I did my best, to think positive, and to hold back the tears, while the boys were asking what was going on. Me and the boys, just sat in the kitchen, praying for Rocky.
About 20 mins after hubby left, I got a phone call. It was hubby, Rocky didnt make it, he passed on during the 10 min trip to the vets. Hubby was so upset! we discussed what to do About ur boy, and decided to leave him there at the vets, and to have him Cremated.
Duke is Sad, he just walks around looking for Rocky.
I am at a loss, as to why something like this would happen!! I cant stop crying! I feel like I failed Rocky. He was oly 3yrs old.

 OMG, I was so shocked to see this. I was hoping it wasn't our Rocky, but I had a bad feeling it was. I am so sorry for your loss, he looked like such a sweet soul. Life isn't fair to us sometimes, but please know it wasn't your fault. You had no clue Rocky would run away. He is pain-free now, and happily running around at the bridge with all his PT buddies and friends.

 Maggie, I just don't know what to say. I have come back to this thread 3 times and I just couldn't bring myself to post. I can only imagine how hard this is for you. I am brokenhearted myself and I only know Rocky from pictures and his stories. He was such a beautiful, sweet, soft soul. Know that I am thinking of you and your family at this difficult time. I am so very very sorry.
RIP Rocky boy. You made a big impact on a lot of people. We love you boy and will be sorely missed. Keep an eye on your mamma ok. She is really hurting right now and send her a message to let her know you are doing ok up there. You will never be forgotten buddy.
