Can Thay Live Together?Question:Lizards, Turtles, and Frogs or Toads Dose any one has any info. about if these cant live together in a single aquarium If anyone has any othe ideas for other animals that can live with these that would be great I plan on starting a little thing to ocupie my time and watch them grow. Answer: Hate to tell you but its highly unlike, most of these require alot more care than you think, MOST of the reptiles require specialized lighting, proper tank circulation, some of them should even be in a tank but more like enclosure type deals (lizzard wise). They require alot more than most people originally think, kingsnake.com is a wonderful sources of info on reptiles. Hope that helps, also most have to have indivual things met so its almost impossible to house variouse species together due to there individual needs. hope thats able to help you some (i also sent you a pm, basically the same thing) just thought id post here to incase someone else was wondering. Answer: I don't have much experience with reptiles, only terrapins when I was younger but I would think that turtles, frogs and toads can live together as long as you have a water/dry land combo since I think most toads spend most of their time on land as opposed to frogs. Lizards, on the other hand, need quite a different environment, I would think mostly dry land as opposed to the wet environment turtles and frogs need. Hope this helps a bit and someone else with more experience can post more details! Answer: Turtles eat frogs, toads and lizards, so mixing them is a huge no no. Green and brown anoles and long tailed grass lizards can be kept with green and grey tree frogs, in a communal tank, but some research ha to be done about what all their needs are. Answer: well thanks everyone. I knew that thay require a certain kind of lamp and wet/dry enviroments and all that kind of stuff i just didnt feel the need to post that also. But the turtle thing on the other hand i was planning on getting a baby turtle so i didnt think that thay would go after somthing almost its own size My lil sister in illinois has a few fire belly toads, and i had to set up tank and the lighting. She is never home though so i prettymuch took care of them eventhough thay wernt mine. I just didnt want them to die so... well i look forward to finding out if i can temporarly put a baby turtle in till it gets larger, also any others i checked out the web site and it had some usefull info too so ty again Answer: I tried feeding my terrapin some feeder frogs but he wouldn't touch them, he preferred the feeder fish. Turtles are probably a lot different though Answer: Tony, Very glad to know your aware of there extra requirments ive got a few well meaning little boys (younger than you) around here that caught a turtle and I had to go over all there care with them and there parents and talked them into letting it go outside (THIS WAS ORINGALY CAUGHT NOT A PETSTORE OUTDOOR RELEASE) jsut so people reading know that lol. IF you can tell me what specific type your intrested in I have a very good friend who has a majore reptile rescue and is up on all aspects and can get lots of good direct info from her and send to you if you'd like. Good luck on what you decided to get, I cuaght three tree frogs the other day while moving the kids pool told hubby I should add frogs to the zoo here lol Answer: lol well i dont really know. I just wat them to all be able to live together and get along. I just thought it would be somthin really cool to do. But any info on what can live with them not just and lizards would be usefull. I think it would be cool if i could get a bunch of diff reptiles to live together. Thanks you two for helping me out I dont know what i would do Answer: What size aquarim are you wanting to use? What type of things are you comfortable feeding them? If you can give me what your willing to be able to do with them I can get some idea and help get some more info. You'll probably be able to get id say no more than two species together if thats even possible. But ill make a phone call to my friend and see what she reccomends. Answer: I'm sure you guys know this already but I thought I would mention it just in case. Turtles are dirty animals. You have to make sure you ALWAYS wash your hands after touching one. They carry lots of bacteria that can be transferred to humans and make us sick (such as salmonella). |
