I bought a new ram...round 2

Question:
Hi everyone,

I went into the pet shop to buy another Mono for my brackish tank and came home with a ram, 2 lampeye killifish, and costapur(ick meds incase). I fished out the 2 tiny lampeye myself and ask if I could have the 2 for $2...the guy that I've know for a few years just marks N/C on the bag....no charge....so I said if I fish out the ram do I get it for $5...hehhe...he was busy talking to his friend and said yes....self serve tank room...lol...so this is round 2 with the ram...I went up to pay for the ram and saw the Sera Costapur on sale...so we took a bottle just in case....that was the first med I wanted to treat the ick with but I could not get there. I hope this ram lives and does not develop ick and spread it to the other fish...I know the golden rule of fish keeping but seem to ignore the word quarentine...heheh...after all I am the devil..lol. I hope to alter my 6ft wooden stand to a smaller size to fit my 55 gal...and my 55 gal need a new side pane of glass. I want one big tank instead of the 3 I have now. I'll still keep the brackish tank going but 2 tanks and thats it.

Answer:
ok, I know very little about most fish, What is a Ram ?

Answer:
Hi W,

Well, what can I say about this pretty but delicate fish. There are a few types. The most common is the blue ram. You can get German blue rams(very beautiful) and Gold rams(nice too). In recent years, Singapor has been mass producing these nice fish and are only selling the males so the average breeder can't repoduce rams. I think this a real shame, since I think we should be able to breed nice fish and keep the lines going. The problem with these blue rams are when you mass produce them and don't really care about the genetics, it actually makes the fish weaker and more disease prone. Its sad that the pet shops bring in cheap rams that don't last very long in your tank. If you read my last post you'll see that the ram went into my tank and it may have/probably gave my other fish ick....my friend that works at the first shop told me that I should never buy rams and that I will get it or it will die fast. Yup, it got ick alright. This time I went to another pet shop that I buy my stuff from time to time..we will see if Mr Ram makes it...i'm crossing my fins...lol...Oh, thanks Denise...he is a pretty blue male but I wish I could find him a mate...lol....I know I ramble on about fish because its my passion...I am born under the wrong sign...Aries..lol....I missed the fish sign by a fin....hahahhaha

Hi everyone,

Mr Ram is doing very well in his 50% of the tank. It seems he like to chase his tank mates to the right side of the tank....I guess he is the big cheese now...lol.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to say that I will try and borrow a digi cam from a friend. I am setting up my 55 gal now...stand and all. I did silicone the broken side(replaced the glass) of the aquarium a few days ago and I want to take a pic of all my other aquariums before I take them down...one by one...most of the fish can live with the Discus tank except for the brackish and the killifish. Its been a long time in comming. I now have a computer job so just maybe you'll see a post about setting up a saltwater tank....lol. I actually did not get a job at a tropical fish store because they wanted a person with a saltwater tank....its their loss..I have years of experience with fish, medication, and I did work for Eheim. Funny, how companies always want more and more...I am over qualified for the fish dept but I was willing to work for $8 an hr. Well, luck has it that a computer company phoned me form the USA and like the fact I have studied Cisco.
