New dog pictures!!!!!!!Question:Chief came here today! I was (and still am) so excited, but I had to post a few pics. He went around and checked everything out in the yard and house and toys and we showed him his bed and all that. It went pretty good...he seems to be settling in. http://tinypic.com/5tymn9 Yes that's a pink collar! My mother thought it would be cute  but we are going to change that. lol http://tinypic.com/5tymwi Wow it's hard to get a good pic of a black dog lol Anyways, I will take more later. Answer: Too cool! When exactly are you getting him? Around July? or am I mixing up posts  He is very handsome! Congratulations :D Answer: I just got him today :p Answer: Oh, WOW! You must be so excited! Sorry I was confusing posts, lots to keep up with! Can't wait to see some more pictures of the handsome boy and hear about his personality! Answer: Thanks! I'm sooo excited, right now he is still checking around the house, seeing what everything is and going in and out of the rooms. :p LOL We are going to bring him to get a normal Giant Schnauzer cut on Friday. Does anyone know if that is too soon or should we wait till he gets more accustomed to us? Answer: Wow, he's a beauty! Of course, I am partial to solid black dogs! haha Answer: I'm glad your all sooo happy. I'm sure he'll fit right in. I have a solid black cocker spaniel and I understand how hard it is to take a picture of her. Even, if I put a solid white dropcloth behind her, you still can't capture her face as you see it in person. Answer: congrats the pictures look great Answer: :D Thanks everyone! He is sooo great!!!! :D Answer: He's gorgeous! I'm so happy you've got each other. You did a wonderful thing by adopting him and I know you'll make a great pair. :D Answer: Yeah!! Chief is a very handsome boy. I agree with you on the collar. I also had a black dog, a poodle named Smokey, who I lost in January, he was 15. Most of his pics you can't see his eyes. They used to put bows in his ears at the groomer, I was always having to explain to people "He's a boy" so finally they started putting bandannas on him instead. I'm very excited for you! Answer: Very cool. looks like you got yourself a Giant. Well get him washed and give him a haircut ASAP, he looks like he needs it. :) Pink collar? he is supposed to be a tough guy, not a cutie pie! ;) I'm sure he will be very happy with you. They are very loyal and affecionate(once they get to know you). Pictures? Forget about it. I have a million of my Ridgeback but Schnapps just is not photogenic. When its dark all you can look for is the red tongue! lol. Answer: Thanks guy's! He is such a great guy, I can already tell. Yeah!! Chief is a very handsome boy. I agree with you on the collar. LOL that's so funny! I hope the groomers don't put a bow in his hair when I take him! I might just die laughing!! LOL Very cool. looks like you got yourself a Giant. When its dark all you can look for is the red tongue! lol. Hair cut is scheduled for Friday. Until then we brushed him out, which I though he would squirm a lot but he was a good boy. He stayed and didn't move for most of the time! :) We will maybe try to give him a bath tomorrow, but not sure if that will happen. It depends on how cooperative he is. Just for the record the pink collar was not my idea! ;) lol Answer: I think the bow thing is just something they do with small dogs who have long ears. They painted his toenails for awhile too  Answer: ROFL!!! OMG thats so funny!!! Answer: I bet if Chief stood still for brushing he will for a bath too. Carey loves both and to get blowdried after! Answer: I hope so! It would make my job a lot easier! He seems to have been very well taken care of and trained previous to being in the shelter. And boy and I glad of that! ;) Answer: Did they tell you why they gave him up? Answer: Chief was the one found as a stray so they didn't have background. But they said he was absolutely great when they did the temperment test and that the foster family loved him. Answer: Maybe he got lost and they never found him, I was just curious as to why someone would teach him so well and then get rid of him. Personally I don't see how anyone could. I'm very glad you rescued him! Answer: From working in at the HS here, most people lie about their reasons when they surrender their dogs. It's almost pointless to ask. The most popular reasons are "moving" and "allergies", but if that many people moved out of town that often this place would be empty! And I know that sometimes people develop spontaneous allergies, but again there's no way it happens that often. I just stick to being happy to see the dog go to a home where I know he'll be loved, and not ditched at the shelter for peeing on the couch! :D Your new buddy is gorgeous, Invisible! And I like the pink collar. It takes a dog who's secure in his masculinity to look that good! ;) Answer: We were raised with dogs all our lives, they are members of the family Answer: It is really sad to see the dogs coming into the shelter. It just breaks my heart when I see a real sweetie there. :( But I feel great when the people adopt them! Especially when I have helped a little in the adoption of that dog :) I still don't understand how people can just ditch their animals like that. I could never ever do that! Thanks for the complement Your new buddy is gorgeous, Invisible! And I like the pink collar. It takes a dog who's secure in his masculinity to look that good! ;) LOL!! :D Answer: See ya'll later I'm going to bed! Answer: Schnapps doesn't mind the bath. She's pretty docile. But that is because she knows there is a nice reward after bath time. Answer: Ok have a good night sleep Gapeach! :) Siemens how should I introduce Chief to the bath? Any suggestions? Answer: What a great looking dog! I hope you have fun with him :) Answer: Ok have a good night sleep Gapeach! :) Siemens how should I introduce Chief to the bath? Any suggestions? Use warm water....I would do it outside, that way if he decides to run, you wont get the carpet wet..... Not sure where or how you plan on doing it. I wash my dogs outside with the gardenhose, but everyone has their own way.... Answer: Ok I'll just figure it out when I do it depending on how Chief is. Thanks Siemens! Your really helpful! :) Answer: If Chief feels comfortable in his surroundings, I'd think a haircut would be okay. Forgot to say, Chief is looks great! I'm so happy he arrived! Answer: Aw, he's adorable! Answer: Thanks! :D His grooming appt. is tomorrow. I'm at school right now, but when I get home we are giving him a bath. Wish me luck! ;) :p Answer: He is very handsome! I can't wait to see more pics! Answer: Thanks bogolove! Answer: He is adorable!!! I'm so happy he is there and settling in well. :) Answer: He is adorable!!!
