My old boy is being PTS this morningQuestion:I know I didn't speak much of my shepard/husky mix Bandit but he was my "first own" dog that I brought into my life when I was 20 years old and still lived at home. I moved out for 4 years and couldn't have animlas where I lived. I still came home every night after work to walk him because we both enjoyed it so much. He was only 5 weeks old when he came into my life and came to work with me everyday for the first 7 years of his life when I was managing and working as a groomer. When I came back home 3 years ago to live back with my parents and live in the apartment down stairs in there 2 family house. It was then in Bandits best interest to remain upstairs with my parents because he had fallen in love and had become close with my mom. Forgive me right now for I am trying to make the best sense I can while I type this, I am a mess as well as my mum for when it comes time for this decision it is so so hard to come to terms with. Bandit is 12 years old, he just turned 12 in February over the past 6 months he has been in and out of the vet for incontinence, bladder issues, and urinary tract infections. This morning since 3:30 am my mom has been up with him, he has been throwing up, having a hard time going to the bathroom, gagging,coughing, and his body has been trembling. He doesn't look good and has been very lethargic. I always dreaded this time to come but at the same time I have been expecting it because of Bandits condition. He is full of lumps and tumors, he had a rectal done at the vet a few months ago and the vet said that she felt alot of lumps inside of him. He had an x-ray on his belly and they found a mass in it. I can't even explain how I feel right now my 5 year old daughter has been upstairs laying next to Bandit all morning and rubbing his head so gently. She cries and tells him how much she is going to miss him. I explained to her how Bandit is going to go and live with the angels and he will watch over us from heaven. She is such a sweet and compassionate little girl and loves Bandit so much. Bandit has such a sweet and gentle nature even with his suffering, everytime you walk over to him and bend down to give him love he licks your face. I have been through alot with Bandit and had alot of wonderful times with him, he is my heart dog even though he ended up cheating on me with my mom over the years ;) I love my Caiza but there is always that one special dog in your life that is perfect and unlike no other you will own. Rest in peace my dear Bandit, mommy loves you. May you find all the squirrels in heaven and have fun chasing them to your hearts content just like you did when you were young. Answer: He's gone...........We arrived ten minutes late wondering if we were making the right decision but the Dr. reassured us it was the best choice for him. I stayed with him in the room, my mom said her good-byes and waited outside she was a mess. He died in my arms, I closed his eyes, kissed him on the head and stayed in the room alone for awhile with him talking to him in his ear. I told him how much I loved him and how sorry I was for having to make this final decision. He layed peacefully on the table as I turned and walked out the room, I had a very hard time leaving his side............R.I.P my boy, I love you. My dad took us all out to dinner to get me and my moms mind off him or at least try. My 5 year old didn't help much because she kept talking about how she will miss him and asking if he was in heaven yet. She doesn't really understand......My mom and I both looked like we got punched in the eyes from crying all day. This morning was especially tough because when I went up stairs to my parents house there was no one to greet me :( There is such a strange presence in the house or lack there of but we know his spirit is with us.
