This puppy needs a home!!!

Question:
Well, this is Dillon's sister from his litter and i think they look exactly like twins, lol... I want her to go to a good home so bad and i know someone from the forum would be able to provide that for her. Unfortunatley, the person that was going to adopt her backed out because they didn't think they were ready. If anyone is looking ofr a pup at the moment she is really sweet and adorable! also, she is a lhasa apso and comes with AKC papers and a health guarantee... Updated on all puppy shots as well;) i think it would be so cool if someone from Chaz could have Dillon's sister so we could see them grow up together... Please let me know if you're interested so that I can give you the breeders e-mail:D Oh almost forgot... She is 4 months...

Here's some pics!

at 7 weeks next to dillon and the other 2 from their litter... she is the blondie on top of Dillon( 2nd from right)

My mom wants her so bad but my dad said NO WAY! My mom named her Daisy so that they could be Dillon and Daisy, lol... What a nut that woman is, lmao!

Answer:
Awwwww Brittany, you know I would take her in a HEARTBEAT!!! :)

Hopefully I'll be bringing her home Saturday!

Oh, wow, that worked out great! Good luck and I hope you end up with that sweet girl!

Answer:
Awesome!!! I want to see pics :D

Answer:
Yeah, I'm hoping everything's going to work out! My fiancee called the breeder and said we'd pick her up Saturday since it's a 3 1/2 hour drive each way and she said she couldn't hold the pup but most likely she'd be there. I tried calling tonight to get an address but haven't heard anything yet... so we shall see I guess!

Answer:
Yay KrisyKris, lol!!! Can't wait til you post lots of piccys so that we can compare her and Dillon!!!

Answer:
OMg you are going to be able to get her!!! :D *does a happy dance* :D
You know that pics are MANDITORY!!! :p :D

Answer:
LOL Liz~!!! Hey Kris, you should start a name thread to try to pick out your favorite name from everyone's suggestions since you have no idea what to name her, lmao!

Answer:
oh Kris, just a tip... The breeders house is a little diceiving (sp?) when you first pull up but her puppies are great and well bred:p

Answer:
That is so cool! I can't wait to see pics :D

Answer:
I'm getting sort of worried because the breeder hasn't called me back and I've left numerous messages. Hmmm....

Answer:
OMG really Kris? That's odd... I'd just keep trying 24 7 until i got a hold of her, but that's just me, lmao... Dont worry, you'll talk to her sooner or later, *winks at kris*

Answer:
Yeah! I'm stressed! She isn't calling me back =(

Answer:
AWW, srry shes not caLLING BACK =( Dont worry... The puppy will be well worth it, lol

Answer:
I'm keeping the faith! lol

Answer:
Lol~!!

Answer:
hey Kris, the breeder just sent me this after I told her I found the pup the home...
Hi Brittany
Thanks for finding someone to take her. I just e-mailed her. I am still three hours from her so will see if she wants to travel that far. I`ll let you know. Tell Dillon I said hi!
Tammy

Answer:

Answer:
yea, definitely~!

Answer:
That is awsome Brittany!!! :D
Good Luck with the new puppy Krisy:D

Answer:
I need an opinion here. I'm a little worried about the situation with the pup. The breeder emailed me saying she has 6 litters right now and needs to get rid of the 4 month old puppy I'd be adopting right away because she has too many. I just don't know what to do....

Answer:
6 litters RIGHT NOW?
:yikes:

Answer:
yes! and now i'm just not sure what to do... she made it sound like the pup is in bad shape or something. She said... she needs to go before winter.. i have 6 litters right now.

Answer:
6 litters  !!
I'd say don't fall for it. If the pup is in bad shape or something she could adopt the dog out. I can't think of any good breeder that would have 6 litters at one time, and that does sound like she's rushing you to buy the puppy... sounds a lil like a scam
I didn't really understand why homes weren't lined up for the puppies before hand, and if she's having a hard time finding a home for all of this litter, what makes her think she can find homes for 6 litters? :(
Just out of curiosity... how were you supposed to pay for this pup?

Answer:
If she is trying to *sell* this pup (rather than adopt it out to you) I'd run away. I know you would be doing the puppy a favor by giving it a good home, but if this breeder is pushing you to buy the pup now, I'd be very wary. That is not the kind of breeder I would want to support.

Not to mention, with 6 litters on the ground now, none of her pups can be getting much attention. I'd be a little worried about socialization issues, too.

If I was in your shoes, the only way I would take the pup is if she was being offered to me for a token "adoption fee". I feel very bad for this pup but by supporting a BYB, you're just setting up other pups like her to live like that until someone buys them. :(

JMO . . .

Answer:
Well Brittany bought her pup from this woman and said that her dog is very well adjusted. I just feel absolutely horrible for the puppy. She's outside!!! in the cold NY weather and will be staying there because with the 6 litters she has no room inside. She's drastically slashed her price from 450 to 200 and says that she's given the pup all of her boosters. I'd need to get her rabies shot done. I just am so upset over this. I don't want to support a BYB but the chances of this puppy getting a home at this point is slim to none. The woman was holding the pup for a lady in Mass that backed out of the deal and with the tons of "small, young, cute" puppies she has now, no one's interested in the 4 month old girl :(

Answer:
Oh tough call. :( that's so disappointing. Do you think the spca or local shelter might help?

Answer:
Argh . . . What a horrible situation, that poor little puppy.

I can't tell you what to do Krisykris, that's a tough call. I guess you just have to do what you feel is best, whatever that may be.

Answer:
I appreciate all the advice, honestly. I just didn't think it would be this way! When I talked w/Brittany the breeder seemed very legit.. I don't think she had this many pups maybe when she went there to pick up her adorable Dillon <3
And now, I just keep seeing her little face and worrying about her. It's a huge commitment though and like you said I worry about her socialization because I have two other pups who live very harmoniously together.
I almost feel though, like if I went to get her, trained her on any issues she might have and took great care of her... if she didn't get along w/my pups I could always adopt her out to a great family in the area that I could do a home check on and have references provided so that I know she would be well taken care of.
I feel like this breeder is just desperate to be rid of her and I don't know who she'd be willing to hand her off to. :(

Answer:
I wonder if you could call the breeder and tell her that you don't support the circumstances the dog is living in and won't pay for it but you would provide it a loving home and get it the training and medical care it needs. There's no guarantee what would happen but sometimes it's good to be upfront.

Answer:
Saje, I called and asked her if she'd be willing to let the dog go for around 100. I'm going to be driving 9 hours roundtrip to get the pup as it is. She said she wouldn't do that because she's already taking a loss.. but it's getting cold out and she has no room for the pup. I'm worried if she stays there she'll either turn into a future breeding dog or end up somewhere awful :(

Answer:
That's horrible and so selfish of her. It's like she doesn't even care at all. :( Makes me want to steal the pup! lol Have you talked to brittany about it? Since she knows her maybe she has some ideas on how to handle it.

Answer:
I talked with her this morning before I received the email about the conditions of the puppy. I actually had a massive goof up by my bank and wasn't going to have the cash to pick the pup up this weekend. So I emailed the breeder and told her about the situation and that if she still was available next week ( when the bank refunded my money) I'd be all for picking her up. That's when she emailed me and told me she had six litters and the puppy I wanted was outside in the cold and she'd allow me to postdate a check in order to move the pup out of her care quicker since winter is upon us.
Ugh, I'm just so so upset. My head is spinning.

Answer:
Brittany lives in that area right? maybe she can call the SPCA on them and find out if there are grounds for an inspection. They might take the pup away and you could safely adopt her from their shelter.

Answer:
I actually looked the women's name up online and it says that she's USDA certified. Does that mean anything?

Answer:
I think Brittany also lives about 3 hours away from her :(

Answer:
Well one of you could still call. Doesn't hurt to ask.
I don't know what USDA means.

Answer:
I'm pretty sure I'm going to go there to get the puppy tomorrow, or to at least look around myself and see what kind of conditions are going on. From the pictures taken of the pup she looks cared for. I just can't imagine anyone leaving 4 month old lhasa apso baby outside in this weather.

Answer:
I wouldn't want to take the chance anyway, but I'm thinking she's pulling your leg to get your money faster :(
If your going to pick her up maybe take a camera? Just in case you see something you can take pics and report !

Answer:
i would but we cant afford another dog

Answer:
I will for sure Brattina. She said she's outside with other puppies. The weirmaner kind.. I KNOW that I didn't spell that right =)

Answer:
weimaraners??? omg, WHY did you tell me that!!! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/sleep/schla07.gif :p
I wish I could think of another way for you to get the pup, and not support that breeder with the money . . :(
Do let us know how it goes, though. I'll be worrying about the pups - and you guys...

Answer:
I emailed another local lhasa apso breeder in this area that is very reputable. She said that I should call the SPCA and have them go out to take a look. I want to talk to Brittany before I do that to see if she remembers what the property was like, ect. I just hope that I'm somehow wrong and that this woman is not a BYB -er :(

Answer:
weimaraners??? <---- that was the breed!!!

Answer:
I love weims...
http://www.websmileys.com/sm/sad/1381.gif
I wish this wasn't happening... I, too, would like to hear from Brittany...
I hope we'll all wrong - but I doubt it :(

Answer:
What happend? Are you not getting Dillon sis?
I am SOOOO cunfused!!!

Answer:
Ooh... this is really tough. I think you should go there. If the pup is in a bad situation, you should explain to the woman that you don't think she should be still trying to get $200 for the poor thing. Say that you've driven hours to get there and think she should let the dog go to you for $100 knowing that the puppy is getting a good home and getting in out of the cold. If the woman refuses, explain to her calmly and politely that you think it is unethical of her to still be trying to make money off the poor dog and that you will be calling the nearest animal shelter to suggest they come and inspect the situation.
You know... try to reason with her!

Answer:

Lizmo, read the whole thread. I was confused until I read it all. Basically, the breeder might be a BYB and trying to make money off a suffering animal. KrisyKris is trying to do the right thing.

Answer:
The breeder that I contacted for advice believes she knows who this possible BYB-er is. She told me that she believes the AKC stepped in some time ago and forced her to upgrade the puppies living situation. She's going to contact another breeder she knows to find out if this is the same person she's thinking of. Oh my goodness, I didn't think this was going to turn out this way. I thought I'd just be picking up a sweet little puppy :(

I agree!
And I'm not positive, but I don't think the AKC steps in and does things like that... ever...
The puppy is 4mo old? Yes, Dillon is a sweet and well adjusted puppy, but he also went home at a younger age. Since the puppy is a little bit older, if the circumstances are unfavorable like we suspect, the puppies temperament can be affected . . .
I don't really know what to say, I wish I had some good advice.

Answer:
I think I'm not going to go pick her up. I feel like a terrible person, but I know that if I go there and that little puppy is in bad conditions I would pay anything to be able to take her home with me and I don't want to help someone continue that is hurting animals, if that's the case. I'm going to wait to see what this breeder says and if in fact she knows this woman, and go from there. I really appreciate all the opinions. I've been upset all day over this and I'm just hope I'm doing the right thing :(

Answer:
There's pros and cons either way you chose, so we support you either way ;)

Answer:
Yes, it's a hard decision... If I were you, I would tell the woman that if she changes her mind about accepting a reasonable "adoption fee" to let you know. Tell her that you decided that a four month old puppy that has been kept outside should not be sold at all, but should just be adopted out. Tell her that you would give her an excellent home and would pick her up right away as long as it was understood that it was an adoption and not a sale.
But, yes, as Brattina says, we're with you whatever you do. Where is Brittany?

Answer:
Man I just read all that!!! :yikes:
What a PERSON!!!! I really wish that it had not turned out like this Krisy :( I am sooooo sorry!!!
I hope that you are able to do some thing about it!
Do you have Brittany's phone number? Or email?

Answer:
I don't have Brittany's email, we've been talking over AIM. We spoke this morning before I realized what was going on. I've been wanting to talk to her about it so hopefully she'll be on tonight sometime!
RIJ73- I think that I'm going to do that. She seemed adamant on the phone that the price was $200 and she was losing money on the puppy anyhow. She was very firm in her tone that it was non negotiable. I will try my hardest to convince her to change her mind though <3

Answer:
Oh okay ;)
You could PM her here too! :)

Answer:
hey everyone, i JUST read this thread and realized what is going on... I've been out all day so this is my first chance being on chaz since this morning beofre anything happened... i've been trying to listen to some of the questions and understand them before i can answer so i'll give it my best try... first of all, about her house... She lives in a double-wide trailer situation and is also a kennel as well as a breeder. Whne we went to her house there were several dogs in dog-runs attached to her house which I was assuming was kennel dogs she was watching... Unfortunatley, I didn't question the multiple litters when I first had the decision of picking out a puppy... I dont know if anyone remebers when I posted all the puppies that I had to choose from but someone had mentioned that there was a lot of puppies but it really just passed my mind at the time becuase I was so anxious to get one... Now that I think about it and I think about the living conditions she could possible be a BYB... Again, do to my anxiousness I wasn't observing everything as closely as I should have... Honestly, Dillon is a fantastic brilliant puppy and has no house training, or behavior problems at all, but I now understand i could of just got lucky with him. I'm so sorry that I didn't realize all of this sh*t before I posted she was for adoption. i just felt so bad and wanted her to go to a home so bad that I didn't think. My personal opinion is to get the pup kris becuase since she is from dillon's litter she should be ok, but afterwards report her to SPCA... of course you should do what you feel is right and again, I am EXTREMELY sorry for all of this bull. Please realize too that I am 13 and probably didn't make the right choice by getting dillon from her. I just saw a website and a good price and BOOM wanted him right away... One of my much more immature moments unfortunately that you definitely should not suffer from...

Answer:
It is okay Brittany...we all make mistakes! ;)
But be thankful that Dillon is such a good little boy and has had NO problem! :D

Answer:
Brittany don't be sorry AT all! It's not your fault in any way! Like I said, everything about her seemed legit until I said I might not be able to pick up the puppy this weekend then she really started laying the pressure on! I didn't want you to see this and feel bad at all! I just needed an opinion because I wasn't sure of what to do myself <3

Answer:
Thank you so much for making me feel better Kris... i honestly still feel like a sh*thead for trying to get this puppy a home without doing research first...

Answer:
Well it isn't the puppies fault OR YOURS <3, and I want her to have a home with me! :) I'm just trying to figure out the best way to help her and all the pups there :)

Answer:
It's okay Brittany... this is what they do! I feel so bad that this is unraveling this way
(((((hugs))))) us chazzers are here for you guys !!

Answer:
:( i've been following this thread and was so happy to hear you would be getting a new puppy i can't believe this went so wrong!!!! keep us updated on what's going on. if you do go there definitely check it out and report them if anything seems wrong.

Answer:
I think I'm going to call the SPCA nearest them and tell them what I know. I don't think me going there will help anything.. I'll just end up feeling horrible. I've sought the advice of a few reputable breeders and they seem to think the conditions I've told them about qualify them as neglectful and cruel to animals.

Answer:
what ever you think is right we support you! doing anything right now sounds like it would help those puppies :(

Answer:
It isn't your fault Brittany, and I am glad that Dillon has such a wonderful home with you. I only wish his sister was so lucky :(

I agree with the breeder you contracted, Krisykris. Definitely call someone, no matter what happens with the puppy . . .

How could someone be so fing selfish. Taking a loss? Yeah, let's put a price on a life now . . .

Answer:
Yeah I'm doing everything in my power not to call her and just scream and yell. Doing that won't solve anything though. I just hope the SPCA takes it seriously and investigates. And I pray pray PRAY that all of those puppies are taken care of somehow and find their way into loving homes..

Answer:
Aw, you guys are the sweetest most caring people i know... Thanks to everyone for making me feel a little better... BTW, I am and will be doing my %100 best of explaining what I saw to hopefully stop her BYBing... Again, thank you for your understanding, you don't know how much it means to me

Answer:
One of the breeders suggested to call the police so it's a "surprise" visit. What do you guys think?

Answer:
I think that is actually a good idea so that she has no time to try to make it look the best it can be...

Answer:
i second the suprise visit!

Answer:
would they go tonight or tomorrow? I'm sure if she knew someone was coming than she would fix stuff up so they can't see what's really going on...

Answer:
I just don't know if it would be the police's top priority to go out there. I don't want to be bugging them if they don't deal with that sort of stuff.

Answer:
oh yeah, that's true... BUT, their job is to make sure people follow the laws and what she's doing IS illegal...

Answer:
I agree....call the police! :D

Answer:
Okay, I'll call tonight!

Answer:
Let us know how it goes! :D PLEASE!

Answer:
Well my fiancee got off the phone w/the police in her town. They said that they'll be investigating it. I don't know if they will for sure or not, but I tried! And I'm contacting the SPCA tomorrow am!

Answer:
Good....you are doing your part! :D ;)

Answer:
Hmm, i wonder if they went last night or if they're going today...

Answer:
I'm so mad!!! Looks what the breeder just sent to me after I told her she should accept Kris's offer of $50...
Hi Brittany
Sorry but 200.00 for an AKC reg. female Lhasa with all of her puppy shots is very cheap. I usually get 450.00 and that is reasonable. She was supposed to come and get her today. I was going to hold her check for 2 weeks too. She never showed up or even bothered to call to call me an say she could`nt come. I sat here and waited all day for her. She will have to find a cheaper puppy some place else. I won`t sit and wait for her again. Thanks for your help anyway. I will find her a home don`t worry.
Tammy

Answer:
Money is OBVIOUSLY her #1 priority, nothing else. The poor pup will probably end up a breeder or be sold as a breeder, and the whole crappy breeding cycle will go on. =(
Don't feel bad, seriously. I would never support a breeder like this. I wouldn't give her a cent. I totally called this when the original thread with pictures of dozens of Lhasa puppies was posted... NO reputable breeder has that many puppies at once, period. It's obvious that money is way more important than the welfare or quality of her dogs.

Answer:
Oh, BTW... Kris DID call her and left her a message saying basically that she wasn't coming... AND, she just e-mailed me and said she found a lady to take the pup! I really hope she found someone reputable:(

Answer:
Ugh!!!

Answer:
exactly my thought Jennifer!

Answer:
You just feel SO bad for that pup....and all her pups that she has :(:(

Answer:
yea... She told me that the person who got her was a local lady ( a few towns away) and she has one of her other pups so that they will get along great...

Answer:
Well I hope that Dillon's sister will be in a happier place than sitting outside all alone in the cold and wind and rain. My fiancee called and left a message today saying that we would not support the amount of puppies she had and that if she wanted to give us the puppy since she clearly had no room for her and she was obviously being completely neglected, we would be willing to spend the time and money to pick up the pup and ultimately get her to a vet, ect. She was the one that never called back at that point which I honestly didn't think she would since she's clearly not seeing innocent little lives, she's seeing dollar signs.
You know, the money was never an issue. I do believe that 200 for a puppy is not extremely expensive. But, I bought Bentley from a pet store before I knew about puppy mills and I swore to him and his parents that I would never again buy a puppy from someone irresponsible and greedy. Now when I go to pet stores and see the adorable pups I think to myself at least they have a chance at a life... their parents weren't so lucky.
Making the decision to not go get this puppy was so hard for me. I wanted to rescue her, and know she had a good home. But after discovering the way this woman operates, I just thought about the poor animals that would likely just take her spot outside in the rain.
I really want to thank everyone for the advice and the help <3

Answer:
You did good. I'm sure that woman will get what's coming to her. :(

Answer:
Thanks Saje.. I'm calling the SPCA tomorrow and telling them what I know. If nothing else comes from this hopefully she'll have to regulate her litters better and improve the conditions they're in...

Answer:
It's good that you are going to do that. Even if they can't do anything it's good to have the report on file. Maybe she'll get more in the future and it will build a stronger case.

Answer:
YOu did the right thing Krisy!
((((((( Hugz )))))) :D It was not easy! :(

Answer:
Saje- I wish there was more I could do. But I do hope that it helps :)
Lizmo- Thanks for being so supportive! :)

Answer:
good job Kris... And good luck with the pup from the other breeder!

Answer:
Thanks Brittany!! When I get her I'll definitely have pics :)

Answer:
You guys handled this wonderfully. Good job. Sounds like the pup will be okay and hopefully someday the woman will be stopped.
What pup from what other breeder are you guys talking about now?

Answer:
In all honesty I saw this comming. Please do report her to the ASPCA or your local animal control. Hopefully they will be able to step in.

Answer:
Thats too bad! Money is nothing compared to the quality of life.
I hope that pup gets a good responsible home that will care for it and FIX it!!

Answer:
RIJ-- I'm looking to get a lhasa apso in the future and I found a wonderful quality breeder that I'm considering. =)
