American armys treatment of dogs in Iraq...sick - Page 2Question:Are you really so ignorant as to say something like that? It makes it harder to give a damn? Our soldiers, for whatever reason, are fighting a war that they didn't start. They are away from their families, their friends, their lives, fighting for something they may or may not believe in. Our soldiers do nothing for our reputation with the rest of the world and what one person or a small handful of people are doing effect anyone's opinion about the rest of ANY country that has nothing to do with those people and everything to do with your ignorance. I have never, in my life, been so disgusted by someone's post on a forum. Answer: Minty sent me the link by PM asking if it was ok to put up. Definately not. It is made worse by the fact that the dog is crying (I turned the volume straight back down bcos I didn't want to upset Rocky) and then the dog is shot at again. Now I'm not one who get's nightmares but I really didn't like that one bit. I wish I could bomb all those evil men and women who think they have a god given right to take life when and how they please. The actions of a few can & DO reflect on how a nation is perceived. Whether that is right or wrong, fair or unfair, is beside the point. Answer: This is DISGUSTING ... that is NOT a human being that did that to that poor dog, they are a pathetic excuse for rubbish, and in my opinion that person will in the end be brought before God and punished severley for hurting one of his much loved creatures!!! I am glad to find out about this, even though I feek sick and totally upset, because we need to be aware of this and make these people realise that they are unnacceptable to exist in the human race, and should be eliminated (or at least their behaviour). Anyone who tries to make any excuses for their behaviour is as bad as them Answer: Im disgusted!!!! Answer: Originally Posted by Mr.Spock Are you really so ignorant as to say something like that? I have never, in my life, been so disgusted by someone's post on a forum. I think Mr Spocks post is a bit 'strong' HOWEVER I also agree with it. The INDIVIDUALS that are doing this are the scum of the earth...it is a despicable inhumane act that has no excuses but to say it makes it hard to feel for those men who fall during their duty at war is also despicable. My OH was an honest hard working Soldier when he was younger and to think that he served his country and put his life on the line for people couldn't give a damn if he lived or died due to some other morons actions is unbelieveable. People on this board SCREAM out when all staffys are slated because of the actions of 1 or 2 and now your doing the same with soldiers....I'm sorry but to me that is totally wrong. Answer: Archer this was not put up to slate the whole army just to highlight how cruel a few individals can be there are people like this everywhere ,also from a personal veiwpoint i have seen what damage a few bad eggs can do to an armys reputation and know not to say they are all tarred with the same brush Answer: Im sorry to say but that it how people will think, that because of the actions of a small group that it is the fault of the whole Army. Just the same way that because of a bad press about Staffy the general consensus of opinion in the general public is that Staffys are thug dogs. (Obviously not true). But when the media post these stories then the general public tend to form opinions on what they have read and we all know the press can be very biased. We are all guilty in some way of being swayed by the masses its human nature to form opinions and usually from what we have read. I mean whose been guilty of saying "Teenagers today........"? In that statement you are tarring all teenagers with the same brush, when we all know that teenagers are as diverse as adults. In conclusion some people will tar all soldiers with the same brush after reading the article and yes they will feel justified in not caring as much when another soldier loses his/her life. Answer: I didn't feel, and don't feel, that this was posted to slate an entire grouping of people. I do feel, and still feel after some thought, that the post I responded to was outrageous and disturbing. I also don't feel that anyone should make excuses for the shooting of dogs, the sexual torment of prisoners, etc. But to say that one individual or a group of individuals would make a person not care (or harder to care) if another lived or died is sick in itself. To lump one group of humans OR dogs (staffs since it was mentioned) together because of the actions of individuals is abhorable. It would never occur to me to think that the entire of Ireland were out of their minds because of the IRA, that the entire of Iraq were horrible people because of extremists, etc. just as it doesn't cross my mind that a staff, a rottweiler, a german shepphard is going to attack me because dogs of their breed have been known to do such. I would hope that we live in a day and age where people are looked at as individuals and that we are smart enough to realize 5 Americans don't represent the country, 10 Brits don't represent England, etc. What these soldiers did was absolutely disturbing. That it is tolerated is more disturbing. Not every American is gung-ho on this war...nor were we from the start. However, we do respect the fact that our children, our parents, our brothers and sisters and our friends are dying for a cause they may not believe in, only because they signed on with the military (many to gain a free college education their families couldn't otherwise afford). I feel very sorry for anyone that can't understand that and finds it 'harder to give a damn' if another human being lives or dies. Answer: Mr. Spock, at no point did I say I, personally, didn't give a damn about casualties in any war. Are you really so ignorant as to say something like that? It makes it harder to give a damn? No I am being realistic. I could post link upon link from both US and UK media websites, and individuals' personal websites condemning military actions in the Middle East and stating that our armies' reputations are being adversely affected. Our soldiers do nothing for our reputation with the rest of the world and what one person or a small handful of people are doing effect anyone's opinion about the rest of ANY country that has nothing to do with those people and everything to do with your ignorance. I suspect a large portion of the Middle East's population would disagree with you on this, based on the photos of military-civilian abuse. After your recent elections, how many people commented on the surprise of Bush being re-elected? Any loss of human life due to warfare is terrible. Although I do give a damn about casualties, I find it difficult to associate soldiers who, in a position of responsibility and authority, consider it amusing to torture and kill animals for pleasure, with humans. These are just my personal opinions, and I apologise to anyone who finds them offensive, but considering I'm an accredited member of Physicians for Human Rights, I don't think I'm all bad. Becs |
