Looking for advise on munchkin breeds

Question:
Hello everyone, I have registered show/breed quality brother and sister munchkins. They are a little over 8 mothes old. I am interested in breeding them. I know I cannot breed munchkin to munchkin even if they weren't brother and sister. I was considering cross breeding with a ragdoll. The task of having to seperate them when my girl is in heat is difficult. I think I'm comming to the realization that one of them needs to get fixed. I have noticed on the munchkin websites that generally the mom is a munckin and the dad is the long legged one. Does anyone know if you are more likely to produce munckins by having a midget mom instead of dad? Any information would be greatly appriciated. I have to decide quickly which will be fixed. As far as the breed standards my male is the perfect discreption. My female is close but slightly overweight.
Answer:
You can breed Munchkin to Munchkin. The litter sizes will be smaller, but may contain more standard (short legged) kittens. There is no difference between using a long legged female or male. The chances of getting standards are the same either way. It is not advisable to use purebred cats with Munchkins, as it is not allowed for the breed. Munchkins should only be bred to other Munchkins (short or long legged) or to a domestic shorthair of unknown ancestry. Your best bet would probably be to nueter your male, as in time he could start spraying, but that choice is entirely up to you. I personally only use long legged girls and shot legged girls in my breeding program. All three of my boys are short. I have never had a problem with breeding short to short.
