She won't eat or drink much of anything

Question:
Baby is 12 years old total indoor cat. Only child most of her life except for a kitty I had and loved for a few years. She never liked him at all, though, so I never got another pet after he passed away. Over Cmas she became ill and went under the bed for a few days. Then she bounced back but in the last week she is not eating much or drinking water she used to really gulp down. She still purrs and wants to be brushed and walks around but things are just not the same. The hardest thing about this (besides whatever illness she might have) is that I can't take her to the vet. She has not been out of this apt in almost 9 years except to walk around porch. She is frightened of everyone but me and shoots under bed when someone comes. To take her out in a cage without a tranquilizer might give her a heart attack or something. I can't do that to her when she's ill on top of everything. So I have to have a visiting vet come out and the one I trust can't come til next Tues. What if that's too long a wait? I am so worried and scared and this is going to be exorbitant money-wise, I'm sure. Do you have input? By myself, I don't know what else to do. I tried buying her all new and diff kinds of food and some toys to get her moving around. None of these are really helping. I feel so guilty that she hasn't had a fuller life. I think about moving so that she can see new things and have some positive changes but now is not the time if she's got something serious going on. Why didn't I do it before this? I knew she was bored. The other kitty I had a few years ago died of cancer a few years ago. I just went thru that anniversary of his passing this past Feb 22. How could I know Baby might leave me, too, now?
Answer:
my cat is scared of every think arart from me he has health problems but i still take him to the vet try getting the cat carrier out put it on the floor let it know whats going to happen put it in cover with blanket and keep talking to her take her to the vet straight away it could be more worse than you think she will be scared but dont panic as least she will be in the right hands at vet they will know what to do it cant wait till tues
Answer:
I agree, you just have to concider your options, the longer you wait the more time and money it will take to get your kitty back to health. If there is any chance at all that you can get her in it is very important to do it. A cat can dehydrate very quickly if not properly drinking and this is one of the most dangerous things for a cat. Cats are also very good at hidding illness so I think you should get her in. Don't be so hard on yourself though, I am sure your cat loves you very much. Do you think she would really like to share you with another cat if she could help it?
