Want to adopt Quaker Parrot in Normal, IL

Question:
I have been doing a lot of reseach this past few years in to owning a bird. I knew that I wanted a Conure or a Quaker but recently after visiting the Quakers in Petco and remembering my Uncles wonderful Quaker and reading more about them I know that they are the bird for me and my family. I am home a lot so am able to spend a lot of time with this bird, he/she will be loved so much, will have great vet care (can provide references if needed) will get a lot of attention and training, will eat an organic diet (other than the pellets they require) and will have only bottled water. I am very well aware that Quakers are very vocal and talkative birds who sometimes will screech and sqauck to get your attention but after babysitting my uncles bird and being around him a lot I know that this will not be a problem for our family at all and my uncles bird is VERY loud and rarely is quiet unless he is asleep of course LOL We are finally ready to have a Quaker join our family and are anxious to adopt! I am willing to pay an adoption fee and do have a cage but think it would be more comfortable for the bird to atleast start out his/her new life in my home in the cage they are used to (you could have it back once the transition is over)... I am willing to answer any and all questions someone might have when looking for the right home for their bird and also have photographs of my home where he/she will spend most of their time (photo's were taken today 1/4/07 so they are recent) Thanks to everyone who might consider me for adopting their Quaker! I can promise that this bird will never leave my family and will be a part of it untill the end of its days, we will love and spoil this little gal or guy as if it were our child :) We can provide you with a LONG list of references including our vet and a vet tech that we know well. I can also provide photo's of our home of the 2 main rooms in our home where the bird will be spending most of his/her time :)
Answer:
People here have already given you advice on this. Petfinder.com or contact a bird rescue. As I recall you said that bird rescues refused to adopt a bird out to you because you don't have enough experience. If you can't find one on petfinder or at a rescue you may just have to buy one. Good luck.
Answer:
Thanks for the info, I am very familiar though with petfinder.com (I used to run a rescue but it wore me after many many years) Rescues did not REFUSE me birds, but they were iffy beacuse I do have 2 cats and i have not owned a large bird (I guess Quakers are considered a large bird) I did own two very healthy Parakeets that I adopted as recently weaned babies and they died at 11 years of age one shortly after the other of old age so I do have experience owning birds, just not the larger breeds. However I did find a Quaker that needed me! I took him in from a woman who was not taking very good care of him at all (smoked in the same room as his cage ALOT, kept him in a really tiny cage, and fed him cockateil food) poor little guy doesn't look very clean but is otherwise healthy and will be seeing my vet soon. So thank you to all who gave me advice, my search to adopt the bird I have always wanted has ended and Im very glad that I was able to save a little life :)
